Two girls are smiling as they hold a bucket of clean water

Things are coming together!

We have two musical leaders on board for Leicester Sing for Water 2022. Jane Bursnall from Red Leicester and Carl Hodson from Global Harmony.

We are delighted to announce that Jane Bursnall, MD of Red Leicester Choir, Sing to Breathe Easy and The Square Mile Choir, is going to lead us in two rousing songs – “Bambelela” a song in the Xhosa language from South Africa which means ‘never give up’ and “Ain’t Gonna Study War no More”. We are awaiting permission from Gitika Partington, and Roxanne Smith who arranged these wonderful songs and once they have given us the go-ahead, we will upload the teaching tracks and the scores, so you can start listening (or reading if you prefer) and learning them!

We are really thrilled that we can also confirm that Carl Hodson, MD of Global Harmony and Harmonic Voices, is continuing to support this event by leading us all in two songs. Carl is going to teach us one of his own compositions “River Wide” plus another song tbc.

Carl is also going to lead Global Harmony and Amika Choir in a special performance of “Thulasizwe” a song by Miriam Makeba meaning ‘I shall be released’, “Lay Down Sister” with words re-written by Penny Stone and the Zimbabwean children’s song “Fambe Naye” meaning ‘go well on your journey’.

We are currently in discussions with a third musical leader and hope to be able to confirm the details soon!
