We have chosen four communal songs for the 2021 Leicester Sing for Water event: ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ by Nickomo, a very uplifting song ‘The River’ by the Canadian singer-songwriter Coco Love Alcorn. A South African song ‘Sangena Thina’, and a Maori folksong’Pokarekare Ana’.
Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to join in. We will all be learning the songs and then on the Big Day we will enjoy getting together on Zoom to enjoy a full 90 minute programme which includes some recorded performances of choirs and musicians who have supported the event in past years, and us all singing along to the music on Zoom So much fun to be had whilst raising money for WaterAid!
If you are in a choir you could help us to recruit more singers by asking if other members would like to join the project and – if you are getting together onine – you could learn or practise the four communal songs together.
First you have to register as a singer (this is free) then you can download the scores and rehearsal mp3s on this website. The next step is to choose the part that best suits your voice, print the words or scores, listen to the tracks to become familiar with them and join in a rehearsal on Eventbrite so that you can enjoy singing along with the music tracks on June 6th.
