Welcome to Leicester Sing for Water 2018!

This year's event will take place at the Leicester Riverside Festival on Sunday the 3rd of June in Bede Park, Leicester.

There are still far too many children dying of waterborne diseases – and far too many people living without access to clean water or sanitation. This year we are collecting money for the WaterAid project in Rwanda. Only a third of schools in Rwanda have access to clean water so WaterAid will be working to improve access to clean water, modern toilets and hygiene education.  Let's get going, raising money, practising songs and making it a great event in 2018!

Choirs will perform songs from their own repertoire and join together to sing Down by the Riverside, Wade in the Water and Dithotonyana directed by Della Cohen. Teaching materials will be available from your choir; or register for access to the downloadable resources on this website

It’s hoped that each singer will donate at least £30 to WaterAid through sponsorship or other form of fundraising. This will be sent to WaterAid by each participating choir.

To perform, you could join one of the choirs, Leicester Amika, or Red Leicester

No time to join a choir? Download the teaching materials and sponsor form, and learn the three communal songs. Bring a cheque for at least £30 made out to WaterAid with your sponsor form to the morning rehearsal; if possible get your sponsors to tick the gift aid column as this adds to your donation. Or use JustGiving to collect donations online.

In addition, volunteers will collect donations from the audience during the stage performance and the busking sessions in the park.

Non-singing volunteers are also needed. Email us and sign up to help collect donations from festival goers on the day. More information will be sent to you.

Many thanks for all your vital help,
Annette, Cee, Ciaran, Dawn, Della, Judi, Maggie, Mary, Rob, Tom and Veronica,

The Leicester Sing for Water planning team.
