Welcome to Leicester Sing for Water 2019!

This year's event will take place at the Leicester Riverside Festival on the festival stage at mid-day on Sunday the 2nd of June in Bede Park, Leicester.

There are still far too many children dying of waterborne diseases – and far too many people living without access to clean water, sanitation, or health education. Let's get going, raising money, practising songs and making it a great event in 2019!

This year we are fundraising for the WaterAid project in Malawi, Africa. Like Mozambique and Zimbabwe, Malawi was recently in the news because of the devastation caused by cyclone Idai.

The communal songs for 2019 are Rain, Rain, Rain, and now, the ever popular Moon River (replacing our earlier choice of Redemption Song due to lack of a score). These will be directed by Una May, the charismatic leader of many Midlands choirs, who is once again the LS4W Musical Director. Teaching materials will be available from your choir; or register for access to the downloadable resources on this website

Tann-i Browne will bring his take on Bob Marley and his songs to open the concert. Participating Choirs are asked to add to the occasion by performing two songs from their own repertoire.

It’s hoped that each singer will donate to WaterAid. A goal of £30 per singer would be wonderful, but whatever you manage to raise will be appreciated. Collect through sponsorship or other form of fundraising. Some choirs also make a communal effort and bake, sell bric-a-brac or hold raffles.

Sponsor forms are available from your choir or Contact Us. Asking your sponsors to tick the gift aid column adds value to your donation. Alternatively, use JustGiving to collect donations online.

Choir members, pass your donation to your Treasurer to send to WaterAid. Not in a choir? Bring your cheque made out to WaterAid with your sponsor form to the morning rehearsal on 2nd June.

Volunteers also collect from the audience during the stage performance and choir busking sessions in the park. Email us and sign up to collect from festival goers. Information will be sent to you.

Many thanks for all your vital help,
Cee, Ciaran, Dawn, Kim, Maggie, Mary, Rob, Sandy, Tom and Veronica
